Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ”
(Galatians 6:2, NIV).
The Tennessean newspaper has reported that as many as 28 percent of children in Tennessee live in single parent households. We feel called to strengthen and pour the love of Christ into as many of these families as we can.
To provide practical, tangible assistance for single moms and dads and to offer a support network for encouragement.
There is a general assumption in many churches that ministry to single parents must take the form of support groups, Bible studies or family socials. While any one or more of these things can be appropriate, studies have shown that the most needed ministry for single parents is one of the helps–practical assistance. This assistance can take on many forms, as you can see by the list below.
If you are a single mom or dad who needs a little help in a particular area, or if you would like to volunteer to be a provider of assistance to any of our single parents and their families, please contact Alan Smith. We are currently seeking volunteers who are able to provide the following services:
- Car Maintenance & Repair
- Home Maintenance & Repair
- Moving Assistance
- Lawn Care
- Spiritual Encouragement
- Financial Counseling
- Job Interview Skills
- Resume Writing
Not all of these areas represent a current need in a single parent family. But we would like to begin enlisting volunteers now who would be willing to provide any one or more of these services when a need arises.Mad Max Memorial Toy Run Application
