Jean Berry: Abiding in His presence

Between now and the next informational meeting about Springhouse’s 2012 trips to Africa (4-5 p.m. Jan. 22), watch this space for memories from last year’s Zimbabwe team. Are you hearing the call?

From Jean Berry:

In the trek from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls was an isolated and remote area named Binga, a place borne out of  a rich heritage of a tenderhearted and strong people who also have need of the presence of His Holy Spirit. In the brief time that we were there, our accommodations were ideally on Lake Karibe. It is a quite large and beautiful area formed by the damming of the Zambezi River. The first morning we had heard the gusts of His desire to be with us. Later in the sanctuary with the church in Binga, the warm breeze was received thankfully as surely as He had blown in the morning. It was thick and heavy. We rejoiced greatly and deeply in it.

Later in the day, not only were we able to receive and be empowered, we were able to abide in it as we floated the lake in His presence. He had enabled and continues to enable a people to overcome consequences of man’s intervention.

In the meantime, sensing beautiful magnificence in this presence, we were humbled by the thought that this rainstorm had caused us to refuel elsewhere. It was a time He was enthroned in the worship in His wind. We could see it, sense it powerfully, and hear His wonderful voice. Praise God.
